Aleksander Parkelj began his career at LGB in 1994, when the company entered the path of radical changes in the young Slovenian state and in the new market conditions. He responded to the invitation of the then director, Jože Smrekar, and joined the new LGB management as the leader of operations, which led the company to the path of intensive development and growth through reorganization, technological renewal, market ambitions, and business development.
Aleksander's professional career started earlier. After graduating in 1991 at the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, he accepted his first job at the then Ivan Kavčič Secondary Civil Engineering School in Ljubljana (today the Secondary School of Civil Engineering, Geodetic and Environmental Protection) as a teacher of professional subjects.
In his pedagogical period, Aleksander gained valuable skills in working with young people, transferring knowledge, public speaking and encouraging people to achieve the set goals. All this was helpful to him when he accepted the challenges of managing operational projects, coordinating colleagues and developing good relationships with clients of LGB. In addition, he focused on technological modernization of the company and automation of work processes, both with new computer infrastructure and professional geodetic equipment. The introduction of advanced technologies and employee training has significantly upgraded the company's expertise and enabled it to acquire and manage projects for demanding clients and operate across the entire country.
In 2009, Aleksander was appointed to the position of Technical Director. He continued the professional development of the LGB employees and ensured that the company continued to follow the development of the profession in the world. He established close cooperation with the heads of departments and worked for a positive working atmosphere among the employees. When he took over the company in 2017 as a director, he became even more committed to managing the company, and to designing and implementing long-term strategies and lasting value of the company.
Committed to the ethical and developmental mindset of the collective Aleksander strives for honest mutual relations between his colleagues, teamwork, loyalty and the ongoing transfer of knowledge and information among employees. Since every individual employee is important to him, the door of his office is always open for discussion and exchange of views. He is proud of this because it reflects the trust of employees, which is the basis for successful work and business. Open to new ideas, no employee initiative is discarded, but it is given to judgment and debate. Colleagues who appreciate his accessibility and the pursuit of equity also respect his high expectations of them. He is consistent with its requirements for quality of work, respect of deadlines and achievement of set goals. These qualities are recognized and appreciated also by customers.
Aleksander is also active in the wider Slovenian geodetic community. He confirms his professionalism with the professional title of an authorized geodetic expert and is also the holder of a license to perform a part of a real estate agent.
Even in private life, Aleksander is an active and dynamic person. He develops his sports spirit as runner, cyclist, and skier. He likes to take part in running events. At the same time, it is also a very valuable time for him to spend his time in the circle of his family. He is married and a father of one daughter. Their common passion is traveling, exploring new places and getting to know new people.
